Hi there! My name is Rachel Arbor and I'm the Founder & CEO of Gaia Scholastic and the NY State Lead for SubjectToClimate. I have a Master's in Teaching in the Biological Sciences from Miami University and a BA in Environmental Studies from Franklin & Marshall College. I'm a licensed teacher in both Colorado (Science, 7-12) and NY (Biology 7-12 and Earth Science 7-12). I have 11 years of experience in both formal and informal educational settings: four as an outdoor educator, three as a classroom science teacher, and four as the Director of Environmental Education for the Garrison Union Free School District in NY. I'm an avid nature enthusiast spending time outside through sports, hiking, skiing, and diving.Â
My connection with nature has been a vital component of my experiences as both an educator and a lifelong learner, which is why I created Gaia Scholastic. Gaia Scholastic's mission is to foster a deep connection between our youth and the natural world. Through this connection built into their learning experiences, Gaia Scholastic aims to empower students to turn climate anxiety into climate action.
